The Edward-Dean Museum volunteers are primarily Docents who serve as tour guides to the public and for educational school tours. They are trained with in-depth knowledge about the museum’s collections and exhibits to help make museum visits special. Volunteers can also help to maintain the museum's reference library of over 2,500 books, help with the museum's new exhibitions, and they can also assist the staff in other areas of the museum operation.
Requirements:
- An educational background and an interest in art education are valued but not required.
- Ability to converse with people and answer questions.
- Walking and watching people for visitor's safety and for museum safety.
- Tours require 20 minutes to an hour walking and standing at a time.
- Docents have a choice of 3-hour and 4-hour shifts.
